I would love to ask Ryan why there is no bolt lock on the garage door into the house. =/ I have NEVER seen a house where the wasn't one. And yet, we don't have one. I wonder why? It does kinda bother me.
I would appreciate feed back from you other Ryan Homes peeps. Do you have a bolt lock on your garage door into the house?
Thanks!
I'm not sure I've ever seen a deadbolt on the inside door. I guess they figure the outside garage door is your deadbolt. =)
ReplyDeleteWe had a deadbolt on the inner door of the garage in my last house. It was also a fire retarding door, per the local building code.
ReplyDeleteNo bolt in my Ryan home interior garage door, but there was one in my 30 year old home. I didn't even realize I didn't have one until your post. I do not mind not having it though.
ReplyDeleteNope don't have one either.
ReplyDeleteWe do not have a deadbolt on the inner garage door; however, this does not bother us because the service door has a deadbolt and the garage door is locked. Also, the security system goes off if someone comes into the inner door when activated. The inner door is also fire retarding door, per the local building code.
ReplyDeleteWe don't the security system. My husband's job is feast or famine. We save up in the good months to get by in the bad. We could not commit to the expense a month for 3 years like they wanted. So we didn't get it.
ReplyDeleteMy 2 yr old knows how to open the door and has wandered out the garage door several times. We now try to keep the actual big garage door shut because of this. But we are watching her like a hawk these days.
Plus, I like the added security of having one there. We have a side entry garage, it has windows on the front. Someone breaking into the garage through one of those could EASILY get into the house without the bolt lock.
I know because I had to break into a neighbors house the other day for them, using a credit card. The bold lock wasn't locked and it was so easy a kid a could have done it. It just popped right open! SCARY!!!
I just had never seen a garage entry door without one. So I suppose in my mind, they all should have them.
Someone breaking into the house through one of the other windows ( say the one in the living room..) could get Into the house immediately., then wouldn't the bolt lock on that door be useless? If someone has THE intention of breaking in, nothing can really stop them. Just a thought...scary one indeed.
ReplyDeleteAgreed Anon. I just hate that my 2 yr old can get out it. lol That and I am just accustomed to having one there. lol
ReplyDeleteKeep the garage door closed. I think its one of the top entry points by a bugler. Once you're in the garage, they have all day or night to defeat your garage entry door--deadbolted or not.
ReplyDeleteOh definitely Lt. GC! We keep it closed! But there are still things in there (tools) she can hurt herself on...you know?
ReplyDeleteWe'll probably replace the door eventually with one that has a bolt lock...
