MAJOR CHANGE! HELP!!

We did a major last minute change tonight. We changed our cabinets to match our kitchen table. We are going with the final upgrade of the antique white cabinets with the St. Cecelia Granite!

It will look something like these:

Here is where I need your help. I want to keep our black appliances for the following reasons:

1. to compliment the black and white fireplace we have
2. I think the stark white appliances against the antique white ones is a bit too white. See example below:

OK...SO I TRIED TO COLOR THIS. LOL I SUCK! LOL

He thinks the white is the better way to go. Especially since we get the microwave above the stove. And our fridge is white, so it wouldn't matter.

We will eventually upgrade to stainless, but we don't want that in our mortgage payment. You know? So for now...which do we get?

What do you guys think? I need answers by 3 pm tomorrow!!!! HELP US!! lol

Remember...my sink overlooks my den and white and black fireplace....

  1. Wow, those white cabinets aren't even an option for us! They look nice!!! I also agree that having white on white is a bit much. I think the more white color, the more things can look cluttered and messy. I say go with the black appliances and the white cabinets. :) The black appliance will bring out the specks of black in your granite. Also, if you want to change out the cabinets and either paint them a different color or get new ones down the line, you won't have to worry about the white appliances locking you into a box. Good luck! :)

  2. I think the white is too much too. Black would be a nice contrast especially if there are specks of black within the granite which there appears to be.

  3. We had black appliances before and I really liked them - I think they would look nice with the antique white cabinets. I know a lot of people hold off on upgrades because of not wanting the cost in the mortgage and I certainly understand budget constraints. However, I always have a hard time knowing that I'm paying for something that I don't want and don't intend to keep.

  4. I guess I am outnumbered. I think the black takes away from the really nice looking white cabinets. I agree with Shara regarding not upgrading because you don't want it in your mortgage, BUT, you are paying full price for something you really don't want and will have to pay for another full set of appliances again in the future. Personally I think the stainless would look much much better with the antique white cabinets.

  5. He REALLY wants the white. It's temporary anyway. He is giving in letting me get the cabinets I have ALWAYS wanted. I can do this one thing for him. Eventually, we both agree, stainless steel will be put in and we'll sell these.

  6. Well first of all the walls will be white your cabinets will be white your countertops granite has white on them so having white applianes its too much white although white is not a bad thing having black appliances will bring a nice contrast with the white so I say go with the white and black. Good luck let us know what you decide.

  7. I also think you should do the black. If the appliances are still going to be pretty new you can always list them on craigs list for sale and you may or may not have a wash.

  9. I'd vote black too! But how soon after will you be upgrading to stainless? Maybe they can just eliminate all of your appliances and give you a credit back, then you can just buy your appliances separately. Just a thought!

  10. I'm so jealous of your cabinets...white cabinets are my dream! They weren't an option for us. I like stainless appliances, so your white vs. black question is really hard for me!!

  12. @ Becky: In about 2 years! Our first priority is to fence in the backyard. Then we'll worry about appliances.

I LOVE stainless in this kitchen, but that is NOT an option right now unless ya'll want to contribute to the cause. lol
